Microsoft in Final Talks with Telangana Government for Setting Up $2 Billon Data Centre

As per the sources, Microsoft, one of the major global tech giants is in final talks with the Telangana government for setting up a $2-billion data centre. If everything goes as per the plan, this will be one of the biggest investments by Microsoft outside the USA.

KT Rama Rao, who is the current IT and Industries Minister in the Telangana government has begun a discussion process a few months ago with the senior officials of Microsoft. As per the source, “the discussions are in the final stage. Certain issues such as whether it would be a single location or multiple and the size of the investment are yet to be finalised. Microsoft appears to be willing to go ahead with setting up a data centre here, though officially not confirmed.”

Microsoft is expected to add more data centres in at least over 10 countries this year. Keeping the future demands in mind, the company’s Vice President, Noelle Wash, who looks after the team responsible for building and operating Mircosoft’s cloud infrastructure has said that Microsoft has also planned to build 50 to 100 more new data centres every year.

The company opened its first office in the year 1998 in Hyderabad with a development centre which is one of the largest research and development centres outside the company’s headquarter, Redmond, Washington, United States. Microsoft has recently opened its third India Development Centre (IDC) in Noida after its second one in Bangaluru.
